Nebraska Christian Schools is located in the heartland of America, lying just outside Central City, a comfortably small Nebraska town of about 3,000 people. Central City is about an hour and a half west of Lincoln, Nebraska.
For over 40 years, Nebraska Christian has provided a Christ-centered education in
the context of love and discipleship while holding to high standards of discipline. It is
a small school of approximately 200 students, enabling teachers to give students individualized
attention and allowing each student to be a name rather than just a number. Nebraska Christian
graduates typically score well above the national norm on standardized tests such as the Stanford
and ACT. The vast majority of the school's graduates go on to a college or university.
Nebraska Christian Schools is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students.
Resident students live on campus in dormitory housing with the houseparents in a "home away from home" atmosphere. International students are strategically placed with Americans to enhance the use of English as well as multicultural understanding. Students living in the dormitory can enjoy Bible study, ping-pong, pool, off-campus swimming, basketball, shopping, and other relaxing indoor and outdoor activities. Resident students are part of the "family," living with each other and sharing in responsibilities. The dormitories provide an excellent opportunity for each student to develop lifelong friendships and to prepare for college life.
During the school year, students have opportunities to travel on different school-sponsored trips. Groups have traveled to Washington D.C., Chicago, Branson, New York, Texas, South Dakota, and Colorado.
Also, during school holidays, resident students have the opportunity to experience American culture and customs first hand. Each student is placed with a host family and joins them in their holiday traditions.
For more information about our resident program, please check out our Resident Handbook. If you have questions about our resident program, you can email our Girls Dorm Parents or our Boys Dorm Parents.
The Nebraska Christian campus is located in rural Central City, Nebraska, away from noise and traffic. Utmost attention is given to the safety of the students. All host families, houseparents, teachers, and support staff have been carefully screened to ensure each student a safe and enjoyable experience.
Schools rules are covered in detail in the Nebraska Christian Student Handbook. These rules include, but are not limited to, the following: no possession or use of alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs, and no cheating, lying or other forms of dishonesty. A modest dress code is enforced during the school year as well.
Our English as a Second Language (ESL) program is designed to take the student from his present
ability in the English language to a point where that student is totally mainstreamed into the
regular junior high or high school classes. Students are admitted into the program at the beginning
of the school year (August), or at the beginning of the second semester (January). However, exceptions
can be made to allow students admittance at other times of the year.
Students may attend regular math, science, history, and physical education classes with their
American peers in addition to several hours of ESL daily. Each student is tested for ability in English
and mathematics to ensure proper placement.
ESL classes address all four required language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and
listening. Each ESL class aims at preparing students to succeed on the TOEFL test so
that they will be able to attend an American university or college upon graduation. All students who
complete the program of study and succeed on the TOEFL will graduate with a high school diploma. If you have questions, you can email our International Director.
