Four-Day School Week

Nebraska Christian Schools is among 120 school districts in the United States to implement a four-day school week. Students attend classes four days and have a three-day weekend. The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 4:04 p.m.

Nebraska Christian is in its fifth year of running a four-day week, and parents, students, and teachers give it positive reviews.

Benefits of the four-day school week:

  • Student and teacher attendance improves because appointments are made on the fifth day.
  • Students and teachers have fewer interruptions and more efficient instruction.
  • Student disciplinary problems decrease.
  • Students and teachers share more positive attitudes about school.
  • Teachers have more time for staff development.
  • Parents and students have more family time together.
  • The fifth day is used for special programs, tutoring, study time and trips.

International students have study time from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the fifth day. During this time, they have access to the library and computer lab. The computer lab is equipped with computer programs so that the students can practice for the TOEFL, SAT, and ACT. After lunch, the students have a special activity or free time.
