Message From Mr. Cumpston
Welcome to the Nebraska Christian Schools website. I hope that you will take a few minutes to look at our website and maybe even come to visit our school for a tour.
We are here to assist the family and church by providing a Christ-centered education, equipping students with a biblical worldview, and encouraging a love relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The first part of our mission is to provide a Christ-centered education. Nebraska Christian has been providing a Christ-centered education for more than 50 years. Scriptural Truth is integrated throughout our traditional college prep academic curriculum. We seek to come alongside families and help prepare each of our students to contribute to and influence the culture in which they will live by being salt and light in their sphere of influence. We want to challenge our students to do their best in academic coursework, extra-curricular activities, and in serving others with their talents.
The second part of our mission is to equip students with a biblical worldview. There is a battle for the hearts and minds of the children in this country. It seems that children are bombarded with non-biblical worldview messages that slowly are incorporated into how they view the world. The Barna Research Group found that only 9% of born again teens believe in moral absolutes. Barna says, “Although most people own a Bible and know some of its content, our research found that most Americans have little idea how to integrate core biblical principles to form a unified and meaningful response to the challenges and opportunities of life.”
An article by Del Tackett explains a worldview as a framework from which we view reality and make sense of the world. Whether people know it or not, we all have a worldview, and this becomes our driving force behind our emotions, decisions, and actions. A biblical worldview is based on the Bible being the infallible Word of God, and this becomes the lens for how we see the world. It is important for our children to develop a Biblical worldview before they are on their own. Tackett states, “The secularized American view of history, law, politics, science, God and man affects our thinking more than we realize.” As Colossians 2:8 warns, “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.” It is for these reasons that we strive to equip our students with a solid Biblical worldview.
The third part of our mission is to encourage a love relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ We want each of our students to have a growing and personal relationship with Christ. All students attend a Bible class every day and chapel once a week. We desire that our students glorify God by loving God and others with their whole hearts, minds, and souls.
We are located on a 27-acre campus just outside of Central City, Nebraska. We are a day and a boarding school. We have a girls' dorm and a boys' dorm. One unique feature is that we also have an international program. We have students not only from across Nebraska, but also from China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
In addition to the rigorous academics our students receive, they are also able to participate in junior high and high school athletics. Our high school teams compete as a member of the Nebraska School Activities Association, and we are a part of the Goldenrod Conference. Students are able to participate in academic competitions such as speech and quiz bowl, and our teams have recently been very successful. Our students also can participate in our band and choir that are known throughout the area for their excellence.
I hope that if you feel God leading you to take a closer look at Nebraska Christian you will call and set up a visit. I would love to meet you and talk with you about the way God is using our school in the lives of our students.
